When we chopped down the trees, we left about 1.5m of the stump sticking out, to make it easy for the excavator to rip out.

We found out later that the smaller 2 tonne excavater Peter Saxby was gonna use wouldn't be able to handle them. So we had to get Peter Corny in with his bigger machine.

This worked out OK in the end, as I could use his bigger machine to dig the pits for the septic tanks.
